I enjoy carving green wood.
Drawing on the Nordic tradition of Sloyd, working primarily with a carving axe and straight-bevel knife, I enjoy giving shape to designs in green wood, working with the original form and flow of the grain. While it informs other objects that I make by using squared-off timber as the starting point, there is nothing quite like going from tree to treen.
