So Long, Forest Grove

Another whirlwind MFA residency has come and gone–this one my first on the beautiful Pacific University campus. Thanks to all who made it such a spectacular event. Here is a parting taste of the campus:

How soon after the zombies attacked did you get to the city? I mean, where are all the people?? Are they okay?? Is there anything we can do to help them? It should be called “Forest Ghost.”

In the fifth photo you will notice a very small dog next to a very large tree (how nice for him). He is a zombie dog, who terrorized the city, driving all the people out.

Seriously – I think the name for a small town with no people in it is “quaint.” This was very quaint. Only 1,200 students at the height of the academic year. Wasn’t Cal’s rugby team was bigger than that?

Then it shall be called “Forest Wake,” because it is in the wake of the Zombie Tides, now ravaging the Western United States.

It’s a sad state of affairs to be sure. This really does explain the surge of tourist disappearances in Oregon in the last calendar year: Zombie abduction and mastication/new-member-initiation. Yup. Sad.

There was a lot of grass. Maybe it’s “Forest Lawn?”

Or perhaps it was summer when no undergraduate or graduate courses were in session.

I think the zombie dog theory is more plausible.
