Facelift: New Look and Feel

As you can see, I decided to implement a new, custom template for this site. The main thing you will notice is that each page now expands to fill the size of your browser window. Hopefully this will help the site feel less cluttered. My main inspirations for the design were the New York Times website and the wide variety of sites out there now implementing a “shiny” look using gradient effects (Apple being one of them). Elegance and readability are my main goals. Hope you like it.

    Nice and clean. :)

Funny, I just did the same thing for http://www.gudmagazine.com two nights ago. Time for spring cleaning already? Or just a defense against the long winter nights?

I didn’t go for the shiny thing, but it’s hopefully more readable and less oppressive both.

    Squeak, squeak. :)

So no black background now, eh? It seems everyone’s lightening up. I blame Google and WordPress.

Very nice look. Less is more. :)

  • Robert

Thanks, Collin. Less is the new more, in fact. And snowclone is all the rage.

I wanted to focus the site more on the text in an almost page-like way, and of course the mantra in print design is, “simplify, simplify.”

    Glad you approve. :)

Good font size and clarity. Thumb’s up.

    Yay for legible. :)

Anything that moves away from early 90s woodgrain print and blue text background is a good direction. :)

btw, my background over at livejournal might be a more relevant link. I’m moving all my poetry and poetics to there.

Lovely. Why the switch to LJ?

  • http://pearlformance.livejournal.com Pearl

Not a switch. It’s been there for a year or so. But now it’s getting active with poetry and poetics.

I have (gulp) 4 regular blogs.

I like to explore different platforms.
